Eligibility Criteria to Get EPIC

  • Individuals should have attained the age of 18 years.
  • All citizens of India can apply for their Voter ID card.
  • NRIs who are not citizens of any other country.
  • The minimum age criteria should be met on 1st January of the year in which the application is made. For instance, if you were born on 31st March, 1998, you will turn 18 on 31st March, 2016. So you won’t be eligible to apply in 2016 as you were not 18 years old on 1st January 2016. You will be eligible to apply for a Voter ID card only in 2017 when the electoral roll is being revised.

How to Apply For an EPIC

Citizens can apply for their Voter ID through different avenues. The Government of India has provided online application facilities. Traditional offline methods are still available as well.

How to apply online

To apply for a new Voter ID online, follow the steps given below:

  • Login to the Arunachal Pradesh CEO website.
  • Click on “Online Voter Registration”.
  • You can then choose to apply via the ECI portal or the CEO portal.
  • Currently you can access the ECI portal and apply online.
  • Click on the link provided to register online and you will be directed to the NVSP website.
  • Click on the link to the National Voter’s Service Portal and then click on “Apply online for registration of new voter”.
  • You will be directed to the application form which you can then fill in.
  • Ensure all your details are entered accurately. You can save your form and complete it later.
  • Click on “Submit” to complete your application.
  • An application ID will be issued. Please preserve this for future reference.




How to apply offline

The Electoral Rolls are revised on an annual basis. Citizens have plenty of time during these revisions to get their names included in the Electoral Rolls and have their Voter IDs issued. Intensive revisions are held where field staffs are sent door to door to collect information about the eligible electors. The field staff will be able to give you details about Voter ID drives held in your vicinity where you can get your Voter ID card made easily. Individuals can submit their applications after the draft publication of the Electoral Roll is issued. Applicants need to fill up Form 6 available online and at the designated locations. Duly filled and signed applications can be submitted at the following locations:

  • Closest Designated Location
  • Your Booth Level Officer (BLO)

If applicants wish to apply for their voter ID during the rest of the year when the revision is not being held, then they can submit their applications directly or by post to the concerned DEO’s Office.

  • Click once again on “Click here to search”.
  • You can search either district wise or assembly constituency wise.
  • Enter either your name or your EPIC number and click on “Search” to generate your details.

There is no SMS facility available to track your voter ID status in Arunachal Pradesh yet.

Applicants can check their Voter ID status and address their queries and complaints on the dedicated ECI Helpline number. The helpline is available between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm on all working days.

How to Apply for Duplicate Voter Id card

Duplicate ID cards are issued in the following cases:

  • Lost
  • Misplaced
  • Theft/Stolen
  • Damaged
  • Normal wear and tear

A Voter ID card is valid for a lifetime and does not have an expiry or renewal date. But in case card holders require a replacement or duplicate, they can follow the procedure given below.

  • Individuals seeking a duplicate Voter ID need to fill in Form EPIC-002. This form is available online on the CEO website.
  • Enter all your details accurately and submit it at the nearest Electoral Office along with the required documents.
  • You will receive a reference number which must be kept safely. It can be used to track the status of your application.
  • Post submission, the Electoral Officer will verify your application and approve it.
  • A duplicate card will be issued and should be collected from the Electoral Office.

  • Individuals seeking a Duplicate Voter ID card can visit the nearest electoral office to their place of residence.
  • Procure Form EPIC-002 and fill it in accurately.
  • Submit the form at the office along with the required documents.

  • Post submission, the Electoral Officer will verify your application and approve it.
  • A duplicate card will be issued and should be collected from the Electoral Office.

Documents Required for New and Duplicate Voter ID:

  • Duly filled and signed application form
  • Form 6 is required for new applicants. Form EPIC-002 is required for duplicate voter ID
  • Recent passport sized photograph
  • Age Proof (Any one of the following)
  • Aadhar Card
  • PAN Card
  • Indian Passport
  • Driving License
  • Class 10, 8 or 5 marks sheet with date of birth
  • For individuals who have not passed Class 10, the parents must make a declaration in the prescribed format given in Annexure-1. The applicant will have to be present before the ERO/BLO/AERO for verification
  • Individuals who have not cleared Class 10 and do not have parents, then the concerned Municipal Corporation or Committee, or a sarpanch of the concerned Gram Panchayat must issue a certificate of his age
  • Baptism Certificate
  • Birth certificate issued by a recognized school or Government school at which the applicant was enrolled
  • Birth certificate issued by Municipal Authorities or district office of the Registrar of Births and Deaths
  • Address Proof (Any one of the following)
  • Government issued ID such as Ration Card, Driving License, Passport and so on

Assessment Order or Income Tax Return filed




  • Utility bills in the name of the applicant or immediate relative such as latest Gas Connection, Electricity, Telephone, Water Bill for the address
  • Postal department’s posts received and delivered in the applicant’s name at the given address.
  • Bank, Post Office, Kisan current Pass Book
  • For Voter ID cards that have been stolen, lost or misplaced, you will need an FIR (First Information Report).
